Praise the gods of Wi-Fi—we’re up and working. Sparks are flying. Coffee is being consumed.
Friends, good things are happening.

However, we can’t say the same about last night. With internet sporadic at best, the boys sang about their troubles. And then knocked over the space heater (hence the ending).

Today on The Deconstruction

We have a lot planned for the day, here at The Deconstruction Headquarters. Besides interview the Deconstruction teams, we’ll also be talking to some artists, thinkers, performers, and other generally inspirational creative folks.

The event is in full-swing now, we have over 60 teams, spread across the globe, and they are actively documenting their creative process. Here are a few awesome posts to check out:

Deconstruct: Stew – The Bedroom Laboratory shows us how to make stew… with Guinness.

Building an App – knee deep in code with team Server Squirrel.

Exploding Musical Chairs!?  – serious prototyping and problem solving underway.

Beer Bot – a bartender you don’t have to tip.

There are a ton more team updates that you can check out here.

Awakened again!

Ok, so, I went home to sleep for a few hours. It turned out it was eight hours. Thats more then I wanted, but oh well, I’ll be awake and productive now!

It seems that while I was sleeping, Alex who is currently asleep, has printed off the rest of the mold for the violin! This is very exiting because it means that I can clean off the table and get to the real interesting part of our feed! (if you didn’t find getting a 3d printer going exiting enough, lolz) I’m going to start working on the body of the violin! I think I’ll also get a few other parts printing while I’m at it; I modeled the bridge and the pegs last night on blender.

kaloo kalay!

After a slew of problems involving the shop door being completely frozen shut and none of our 4 ways to get wireless worked we may finally have strong enough internet.

and yes we have tried restarting our computers.

100 foot cable stretched from the 3rd floor too the main floor. Also we are using power from 3 different apartments now.

BRB off to the computer store.

Cheers

Update #4 – Guinness Stew!

posted by: on

So we’ve recharged via a nice dinner!

2013-02-23 18.08.17

I promised I would put up a receipe so here it is, handed down from generation to generation:

Ingredients

– Beef stock cube- Flour
– Carrots
– Celery
– Onion
– 1 Can of guinness
– Good cut of beef, the better the beef the better the stew
– Potatoes

Directions

First make the stewing base:
-Dissolve the stock cube in 500ml of water
– add flour to thicken (if you go too far just add a little more water
– as it begins to simmer, add 250ml of guinness

– Peel and bring the potatoes to the boil, cooking time will depend on the size of the potatoes.

– Put a large pan to heat over a medium heat.
– Brown the beef in a little Guinness, chop the vegetables into small pieces.
– Add the vegetables to soften for a couple of minutes towards the end.

– Then add the vegetables and the beef to the stew and leave to simmer.

Then eat and enjoy!
